iRacing.com - Release Notes for 2011 Season 4

Grant Reeve has posted release notes for new 2011 Season 4.

Race Panel Changes
- Added a visual MPR indicator that is displayed between the car and the sessions box. This provides a quick and easy indication if you are racing up, down or equal to your license level.
- Added a track confirmation dialog to the race panel. It is displayed when you click on a registration link in the race panel and the track associated with the session is different from what is currently displayed in the race panel. This should help to avoid issues that happen when we approach race week cutovers where people register for sessions on different tracks than they expected.

Driver Stats
- The driver stats page now includes the checkbox Active Drivers, which will restrict the result set to currently active members.

Release notes are too long to show them all on the front page so click on "Read more" button below.

rFactor 2 - Recommended Server Specs

Tim Wheatley from Image Space Incorporated has released a minimum and recommended server specs for the rFactor 2.

"Bandwidth:
96 Kbits/sec per user for server populations less than 10
256 Kbits/sec per user for server populations between 10 and 20
768 Kbits/sec per user for server populations between 20 and 30

RAM use:
Approximately 200 MB per server instance for server populations less than 10
Approximately 300 MB per server instance for server populations between 10 and 20
Approximately 400 MB per server instance for server populations between 20 and 30

CPU Usage:
This is also dependent on the server population and number of AI drivers but we would account for at least 250 MHz per server instance and on modern CPU, for example if you have a 2.5 GHz dual core you can run 20 servers (10 per core, 10 * 250 Mhz = 2.5 GHz) on that CPU if you have other requirements mentioned above meet. Floating point unit required."

One of the features we put the most time into was allowing players to make their own HDR profiles so that they can adjust for a look that appeals to them."

F1 2011 - Developer Diary #4

Codemasters have released the 4th and final developer diary video of their upcoming F1 2011 racing game. This video features all new gameplay footage and reveals the all-new Safety Car in action alongside a range of season updates that make the game feel completely different.

"Safety car - a lot of people have been asking us for it. We'd always said we'd only do it when it was absolutely right, so now it's available in single player and multiplayer," said Stephen Hood, Chief Games Designer.

All of the rule changes from the 2011 FIA FORMULA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP are included to give players the authentic Formula 1 experience. KERS - Kinetic Energy Recovery System - gives players an acceleration boost to launch out of corners. DRS - Drag Reduction System - adds acceleration for overtaking in specified zones around each circuit and the new Pirelli tires affect performance and handling of the cars on track, changing qualifying and racing strategy. "These three things alone make the game feel completely different," added Stephen Hood.

F1 2011 launches for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC Games For Windows on September 23rd in the UK.

iRacing.com - Release Notes for 2011 Season 3

Grant Reeve has posted release notes for new 2011 Season 3.
